I was born in the late 80's (1988 to be exact) but my childhood days was spent during the 90's. Definitely, it was the most memorable part of my existence. It was the decade of my life when I was freely playing around with my young peers and not minding what my tomorrow will be as an adult me does.
And just this last Sunday of September, I coincidentally witnessed the memoirs of my juvenile age. It was thru 90's << Naalala Mo Pa Ba? Exhibit in part of the "Intramuros Pasyal Sunday" with the effort of Philippine Art 164 Class from UP Manila.
If you really are 90's kid what must be the 90's things that stored in your memory? Let me give you some of these and refresh all our 90's days.
Food and Munch
Remember Pinoy Chips with freebies inside, Yakee, a sour taste bubblegum and Pintoora bubblegum the will leave your mouth inked, hence the Brand name says, Mik Mik a packed milk powder and Pompoms Chiz flavoured chips. (counter clockwise)??
I forgot the name of this sweet circular candy that can produce a whistling sound, Sweet Corn Chips which I believe that still available up to this day, my one of favourite Stick-O a chocolate tube wafer, Pasabit or Pararoy as we call it in Marinduque. (clockwise)
Toys and Hobbies
I used to have this assorted color local lego toy, Komiks once became a popular hobbies of young Pinoys of the yesteryears Though we can still find comics today but it is far different comics of the old days. How about these dark green soldier figures. I also have some of it in my childhood days.
Who enjoyed blowing and popping off a plastic balloon? Yung my laway pang kasama? Yucky di ba?! But in our childhood days we didn't categorized things that way! It was natural to get stinky and dirty! Isn't it Also in 90's was the beginning of technology development. Cellular phones was then rose in this decade. Furthermore, who used to listen in the music with cassette radio?
I'm pretty sure you have and wore this. --- A Jumper made of maong.
On our childhood days also was the era where kids were so active. We used to play interactive games with our playmates like Piko, Patintero, black 123, Tom Sawyer, What else? Well, I rarely seen that nowadays with todays young generation. Probably its because of the domination of virtual games that kids are playing now.
These UP students let the kid of Intramuros and its young visitors to play Piko.
For the longest time I haven't heard this line, "Langit Lupa Impiyerno sa Im- sa Im Impiyerno...Saksak Puso..Tulo ang Dugo..Patay buhay...Umalis ka na Diyan sa Pwesto mo...." Reminscing huh? Surely, you played that and once uttered that game chant.
It is truly fun to remember our young days. In this way, we got a chance to reflect where we are right now, not probably just the age but also how far our reach was. Really, time was passing alacritously and we are seems a little unaware of it. And that line of the seniors "Iba na talaga ang kabataan ngayon" was now our words too. Admit it, we are aging but let us age right and all through those years past, we have learned so much of things. Memories of our youth will always remain and still the sweetest, happiest, eventful and yet the best remembrances to cherish.
Ikaw, What was your most memorable 90's mementos? Share it here.
